Animal Abuse; Dogs at Large; Small Deer Hit

Animal Abuse Reported

Rye City police assisted the SPCA of Westchester in an animal abuse case on Theodore Fremd Avenue reported on Oct. 19 at 1:39 p.m. The animal was located in about 20 minutes and SPCA gathered the information needed for follow up.

Driver Reports Hitting Dog

On Oct. 17 at 5:48 p.m. a resident went to police headquarters to report hitting a dog on Locust Ave. that morning. The dog owner was present and said that the dog was chasing a deer and it was not her fault. No information was exchanged.  Approximately $5,000 of damage was done to the vehicle.

A loose dog, described as 30 pounds, white with black and brown spots, was reported on oct. 18 at 1:17 p.m. on Forest Ave. and Oakland Beach Ave.

On Oct. 20 at 3:37 p.m. police received a report of a black lab running loose on Playland Parkway and Boston Post Road. The dog was gone on arrival.

Car Hits Deer

A car struck a small deer on Oct. 22 at 6:55 p.m. on Grace Church Street. While there was no damage to the vehicle, the deer was killed and moved to the side of the road for DPW to pick up.
