Westchester BOL Meeting - PLAYLAND - TONIGHT 7PM

There is a regular meeting of the Westchster County Board of Legislators tonight, Monday 2/10/14 at 7:00pm.

These meetings are open to the public. At the very beginning of the meeting a limited number of attendees are allowed to get up to make public comments to the Legislators. Commenters can address any topic they choose.

Tonight the Legislators will be voting to send two Playland-related resolutions to committee for review prior to voting on them at a later date.

One resolution states that there is NO SIGNIFICANT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT expected from the SPI construction plan. If you don't agree with that, let your Legislators know!  The other resolution is to vote in favor of going ahead with the SPI plan. They will not VOTE on these issues tonight, they are simply going to send them to committee for review, so that they can vote on them at a later date, most likely sometime within the next 90 days.

If you have concerns about the Sustainable Playland Plan to build a 95,000 sq. foot indoor sports facility in the middle of the Playland parking lot, a FEMA Flood Zone, please attend. Even if you cannot get up to speak, your presence and show of concern is important.

Each speaker is allowed 3 minutes to speak, which can go quickly. Notes or a practiced pre-written statement will help you make your point succinctly in the allotted amount of time.

Bring photo ID as you must go through a security screening downstairs in the lobby before proceeding to the 8th floor.

Once on the 8th floor, you must sign in with the receptionist, if you wish to speak you should inform her of this at that time.

Address is 148 Martine Ave, corner of Court St. & Martine, across from Galleria. Actual entrance is on Court St.

Plan to arrive early to allow for parking and to go through security.
