I met Bob Cohen, State Senate candidate, a few times during his campaign and greatly appreciate that he is a refreshing change from the usual candidates. All too often, we have to choose between status quo politicians, but this is not the case with Bob. Conversely, Bob’s opponent has been in office for 25 years-my entire life-even though this career politician once favored term limits. This impresses me. I want someone to represent me who has had a real job.
Bob Cohen is exactly what we need in the State Senate. He has spent his career in the private sector, truly understands the challenges facing our businesses and families and wants to take his wisdom to Albany to push for bold change and reform. It is clear that Bob genuinely will fight to save New York State. He realizes how high taxes are driving people, especially my generation, out of New York. I've grown up in Westchester; every day I hear people say that the cost of living is too high and they may have to leave. The cause: NY has the highest taxes in country. Thankfully, Bob is ready to fight for tax relief and spending reductions.
It may be hard for Bob Cohen to fight the status quo in Albany, but on Election Day I will certainly be casting my vote for Bob and give him a chance to save my home and state.

between George Latimer and Robert Cohen. There is such a disparity in tactics and the amount of money being spent on the campaigns that I feel the need to comment. George Latimer is the kind of guy who is very approachable and stays in touch with his constituents at events large and small, frequently and with great sincerity. He’s a truly warm and wonderful person whose politics are moderate and pragmatic. True to the cliche, George is being opposed by a very rich Republican who has chosen to introduce himself to us, through his numerous and extremely negative mailers and robocalls, as a politician who is quite ruthless and, to be frank, dishonest. He is spending a huge amount of his own money and PAC money and Republican Party money ( over 3 million dollars for a job that pays $79000 ! ) in order to gain the State Senate seat that he and George are vying for. I am doing all that I can to support George Latimer and encourage all who have benefited from George’s efforts and concern for us, to do the same.
Did we forget that Skelos and Libous joined up with Pedro Espada and Hiram Monserrate to try to take over the Senate a few months after the Dems had their only majority in decades? And the one month of no action their coup accomplished? Ms. Ward and her family are prominent Republicans, and thus support the Republican candidate. I'm a Democrat, and I support the Democratic candidate. That's America. But let's not write as if we're unaffiliated, making an independent choice. The GOP W A N T S this seat, thus Cohen, his money, and their $4 million to utterly trash a fine man, George Latimer.
Go Bob! Vote Cohen 11/6! Stuy & Howard, why do you endlessly support liberals like Latimer? His policies are bad for our area. Things like pension reform are important but he skipped the vote. While I appreciate his reasoning for not voting, he offers no alternatives which is unacceptable and why everyone should vote for Bob Cohen.
I support Latimer because he is a fine man and a concerned and dedicated public servant. his concerns have always been for the community as a whole and, your characterization notwithstanding, his politics have always been rational, compassionate and based in common sense. Labels ( even though I proudly accept the designation, Liberal ) do not really further understanding of our lives and political and economic situations. George has always been available and helpful to anyone who has needed him and has never asked anyone I am aware of, what Party he or she might be affiliated with. It's easy to see the difference in character between Mr Latimer and his opponent who, it seems, will go to any depth, fair or foul, to get what he wants.
Howard, there both nice guys (i've met both) so that arguement really doesn't cut it for me. On the other hand, Latimer's voting record is very real and it's marked with yes votes on many many tax increases so I'm pretty sure we can do better with Bob Cohen. At least he's not going to role over for the teacher's union.
Time to show Latimer the door by voting for Bob Cohen!
