"The announcement means the end of plans by Sustainable Playland to build a field house at the park. But Astorino said it's not clear if the county will run the park in the future. The Biederman team will make recommendations on the management of the park, he said.
Legislator Peter Harckham, D-North Salem, who has been running the Board of Legislators review of Sustainable Playland's plans, said the announcement "represents a setback for the goal of revitalizing Playland." But the county has learned some lessons from the long effort to bring in a private operator, he said.
"The amusement park must remain the focal point; the impacts to the environment and the neighboring community must be thoroughly vetted and the numbers need to add up and be realistic," he said."
