Rye Celebrates Our Nation's 236th Birthday

Join the celebration at Rye Free Reading Room Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Start the 4th of July with a show of respect for our nation's history and close out the day with a bang at 's fireworks display.

Leaders of Tomorrow and the present A Celebration of Our Nation’s 236th Birthday Wednesday July 4th, 2012, 10:30 a.m on the porch of the library.

The program includes a reading of the Declaration of Independence and selections from other historical speeches followed by the unfurling of the American Legion's historic American flag.

The 4th of July fireworks show at Rye Playland starts on the pier at 9:30 p.m. with a display choregraphed to music. The night lights are also the kick-off for bi-weekly fireworks shows every Wednesday and Friday at 9:15 p.m. until the end of summer.
