[GALLERY] Guinievere Loves Chasing Geese

Grace Sensbach's dog Guinievere takes charge of goose control at American Yacht Club.

"She still runs like the wind," assures receptionist Grace Sensbach. But mostly Guinievere lays, watching people come in go through the lobby of the American Yacht Club in Rye, raising her ears and wagging her tail when she sees a familiar face.

Guinievere, named after one of the club's first racing craft, is 11 years old and has been the official goose dog of the American Yacht Club since she was a puppy.

Sensbach says she has been receptionist at the club "Forever!"- actually 25 years- brings Guinievere home every night. "She's brilliant," said Sensbach. "I couldn't live without her."

Now that she's older- and especially when it's as hot as these past few sweltering summer days have been- Guinievere doesn't spend as much time running around the great lawn chasing geese as she does guarding the front door of the main clubhouse or keeping a friendly watch in the lobby. But she still can still spring into action in a flash and the geese know it.

She doesn't chase them as often or as long as she used to, but she still does occasionally, just to let them know who's boss.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
