It took 6 days from last Saturday's October snowstorm for Con Edison to re-connect the nearly 10,000 residents in Rye City and Rye Brook to the grid.

By Friday afternoon, the utility company had updated its outage map to report one remaining outage in Rye City.

"This was not a good response," was the assessment of Rye City Manager Scott Pickup at Wednesday's council meeting. Con Ed did not provide a municipal liasion to work with the city until Tuesday. There was no coordination team to work with DPW clearing trees, down wires and debris until Wednesday morning.

According to Pickup, Con Ed waited on support crews that travelled from North Carolina and Louisiana to arrive and help with work in the area.

Ironically, Pickup said the FEMA response team assessing the damage from Hurricane Irene would arrive this week "60 days later."
