Share Your Summer

Looking for a unique experience for your family this summer? Hosting a foreign exchange student is a great opportunity to learn about another culture and enrich the lives of everyone involved!

The most significant experience of my life was studying abroad during college.  Meeting people from other cultures opened my mind to the diversity of our world and gave me more confidence as I finished college and started a career. To this day, I travel as much as possible and have friends I visit all over the world.  One of the best ways for a family to enrich their own lives without leaving home is to host a foreign exchange student.  This experience has a myriad of benefits with the most significant being the impact it has on high school and college aged children in the host family.  During an influential time in their lives, teenagers who spend time with someone from another country are able to improve foreign language skills, learn about a different culture and build their self-confidence as they find their way into their adult lives.

I want to introduce you to three amazing girls who are eager to spend time this summer with a host family in the New York area...

Irene and Marta are sisters from a small village in Northern Spain. Marta is 19 and is in her second year of college in Madrid. She is majoring in medical biology. She is a people person who loves traveling, going to the beach and dancing. Irene is 18 and is planning to start college next year. She wants to study genetics. Her hobbies include travel, photography, reading and watching movies. Both girls are eager to improve their English and want to visit the US because “American families are welcoming and they like sharing their life with foreign people.”

Lucia is 19 and is from Northwest Spain but she currently goes to school in Salamanca. She is studying to be an English teacher for young children. Lucia loves to travel and visited New York City last year with her family. She is eager to return to the area so she can live with an American family and improve her English. She enjoys playing sports and going to the beach.
