The Memory Care Center at The Osborn will be a resource for the Sound Shore area offering both expertise and residential services. The new Memory Care Center will offer an innovative residential setting for those coping with mid-stage dementia.

Mr. Zwerger stated “The new Center will be a great community resource for those who need its services today and for those who may need it tomorrow.

Jack Miller, Chairman of The Osborn Board of Trustees said “The Osborn is planning to meet the unprecedented growth in the number of elders living in Westchester County over the coming decades. The county has an unusually high concentration of residents age 75+, with the segment of elders age 85+ anticipated to experience the most growth. The new Memory Care Center may very
well be the first of several we will design on The Osborn campus as the demographics warrant it.”

According to Mr. Zwerger, “Advanced age is the number one risk factor associated with the incidence of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. With our population aging and no cure on the horizon, the time to prepare is upon us.”

At the Remembrance Ball, The Osborn will honor three recipients of the John W. Sterling Legacy Award. The award is in recognition of John Sterling’s unwavering commitment to Miriam Osborn’s vision for The Osborn and his financial astuteness and keen attention to detail which kept The Osborn on course for seven decades, building the foundation, both literally and figuratively, for The Osborn
of today. The award recognizes an individual’s pre-eminence in their field of endeavor. It honors their accomplishments in keeping with the spirit of Miriam Osborn’s compassionate vision and John Sterling’s dedication to creating an organization which is the “finest of its kind”.

The 2011 recipients of the John W. Sterling Legacy Award are:

Frank A. Corvino, President and CEO of Greenwich Hospital whose distinguished career has placed him at the forefront of healthcare innovation in such areas of patient safety, integrative medicine, wellness programs, care for the aging and the “green” movement.

Frank S. McCullough, Jr. a Senior Partner in the law firm of McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt, LLP in White Plains who has practiced for over 35 years specializing in land use
and environmental law. He and his firm have been the attorneys for many of the major development projects throughout Westchester County area and have enjoyed a long relationship with The Osborn Retirement Community including serving as its attorneys in relation to its expansion to a continuing care community.

Peter G. Bergmann, a dear friend of so many in the aging services community in New York is receiving this award posthumously. A partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the oldest and most prominent law firms in the United States, Mr. Bergmann built the
firm’s Health Care Group into a premier practice, with a team of attorneys representing not only continuing care retirement communities, but also hospitals, nursing homes, home health care providers, senior housing developers, managed care organizations, health insurers,
international health organizations, and pharmaceutical companies in every facet of their operations.
