The Woman's Club of Rye, An Organization That Has "Something for Everyone"

The
Woman’s Club of Rye, An
Organization That Has “Something
for Everyone”

Founded in May of 1933 as a social group
for the women of Rye, The Woman’s Club of Rye has grown to become an
organization that offers programs, fundraising endeavors and varied interest
groups for women of all ages and surrounding communities.

The younger women prefer to join The
Children’s Philanthropy Section whose primary purpose is to work together
raising money to benefit the children of Rye.  Their funds are distributed to qualifying institutions, agencies and groups who support scholarships and/or cultural, educational,
emotional or recreational enrichment.
Some of their activities this year will be Family Portraits, Halloween
Window Painting Bake Sale, Holiday Gift Giving to Children in Need, Lord &
Taylor Benefit Bash, and Designing Women of Rye & Beyond.

The Crossroads Section of The Women’s Club
caters to women who want more social offerings such as trips to various places
of interest.  This year plans have been
made to visit West Point, Top of the Rock, NYC and Cold Springs on the Hudson.  The women love to try different restaurants,
will take in a movie together, and have a monthly book discussion group.

The Regular Section of The Women’s Club
offers a monthly program at Club Day, the first Tuesday of the month at
Christ’s Church in Rye.  The topics are varied,
covering crime prevention, skin care, holiday boutique, fashion show, musical
presentations, nutrition, etc.  Members
can participate in such interest groups as Arts, Beaux Arts Exhibition, Bridge,
Literature and Theatre.  This group’s
primary purpose is to raise funds for Rye High School scholarships and donate
to worthy organizations in our local area.
