Westchester resident Sloan Wainwright’s musical style consists of folk, rock, jazz, and blues and owes itself to her time writing and performing throughout Greenwich Village. Her impressive discography of 8 original CD releases is filled with her own personal style and lyrics with her rich contralto voice. The Boston Globe says, “...Wainwright is always a pleasure to behold live. The way her voice rumbles like thunder on a mountaintop will make you a believer.” She belongs to a musical dynasty of impossibly gifted singer-songwriters. Her family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright, sister-in-law Kate McGarrigle, nephew Rufus Wainwright, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) reads like a who’s who of contemporary folk music.

Opening the show will be Sloan’s son, Sam McTavey, who has

been carrying on the family tradition both as a writer and performer. Interviewed
in the New York Times, he says,
“…I’ve been playing at all the usual venues, like the Town Crier, in Pawling.
It’s pretty hectic sometimes, because I’ve also got a day job as a geologist.
Still, I recently managed to complete a five-song CD, ‘The Sampler.’ Every so
often, of course, I open for my mom when she’s playing…”

Other upcoming shows at Music at the Mansion: Appearing on Saturday,

solo sets and also reuniting to perform a rare set as their former duo act The
Nudes.

Crawford Park is a 36-acre preserve located in Rye Brook,
NY. Originally the estate of the Crawford family, the grounds and mansion were
donated to the Town of Rye in 1971. The park contains an early 20th century
mansion, hundreds of mature trees, an expansive lawn, a playground, a large

picnic pavilion and a sunken garden. Friends of Crawford Park was established
in 1996 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to beautification of the park
grounds and preservation of the Crawfords’ legacy. Concerts take place in the
historic Crawford Park mansion in Rye Brook, NY, and will happen approximately
bimonthly. Our first show in Fall 2013 featured singer-songwriter Jill Sobule
with opening act The Knox Sisters.
