THE BIG READ OF IAN McEWEN’S SATURDAY” AT THE OSBORN

Please join us for The Osborn’s third annual campus-wide “Big Read,” jointly sponsored with the Rye Free Reading Room. The event is a National Endowment for the Arts program to inspire people to pick up a

good book. We will discuss noted author Ian McEwan’s Saturday. As stated on Mr. McEwan’s website, “Saturday is a novel set within a single day – 15 February 2003.”

“Henry Perowne is a contented man - a successful neurosurgeon, happily married to a newspaper lawyer, and enjoying good relations with his children, who are young adults.” “What troubles him is the state of the world - the impending war against Iraq, and a general darkening and gathering pessimism since the New York and Washington attacks two years before.”

The event and parking are free and open to the public. No R.S.V.P. is needed.

The Osborn Retirement Community is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1908. The Osborn provides a continuum of care. Residents live in a variety of settings from Sterling Park Independent Living apartments and garden homes, to Assisted Living at The Osborn apartments, to the Pavilion skilled nursing facility's private rooms for short-term rehabilitation or long-term care. Osborn Home Care, The Osborn's own New York State licensed home care services agency, provides registered nurse case management and personal care services by certified home health aides in Westchester as well as on The Osborn campus.

A. Who the heck is "Sam Gentile"? Is "he" qualified to make the kind of postsRead More he's been making? Does he have an undisclosed financial interest in what he's posting? This sure looks like an [unidentified as such] sales promotion for Staples. B. On what basis does "he" assert that Rye Teachers are paying out of their own pockets for school expenses? I'm sure some are, but is it reasonable to base such a broadbrush / dramatic statement based on a nation-wide survey the source of which isn't even specified in the post? Was the survey perhaps assembled by Staples or some other business?
