118 S Ridge St Rye Brook NY 10573  See map

Next Tuesday, from 2-6 pm at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook, there will be a Hurricane Sandy holiday collection/relief drive organized by Rye Brook residents, working with Fun Bus NY to bring the collection items down to the Jersey Shore.

Students and residents are partnering with The Fun Bus (www.funbuses.com) to bring holiday hope and happiness to communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.  Organizers are committed to filling an entire Fun Bus with gifts and supplies for the children and families, in a very special holiday mission.

The collected items will be brought to the Salvation Army in Hillside, NJ, where the goods will be distributed to communities across the Jersey Shore.

The relief drive is seeking donations of new toys, blankets; coats (new or gently used); warm pajamas, gloves, hats, etc., for this special holiday helping mission.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
