Who Should Have What Power at the Rye Golf Club?

The Rye Golf Club Commission, Strategic Committee and City Council will discuss possible answers to that question on Wednesday.

The Rye City Council will hold a workshop with the Rye Golf Club (RGC) Commission and RGC Strategic Committee to discuss their recommendations for the future of the club on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.

The Commission will review their recommendations to give themselves more power over decision-making and oversight over club management in order to reduce the demands of the club on the city manager. They also want to stay an official advisory board to avoid liability and insurance concerns.

The Strategic Committee’s recommendations included more checks and balances, transparency and internal controls over purchases. Read more on that here.

Both groups were appointed to develop recommendations for the council at the Oct. 24, 2012 city council meeting just after the council launched its investigation of the club and its now former manager Scott Yandrasevich. Yandrasevich has since resigned; the city council accuses him of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from club membership and the Westchester County District Attorney’s office is currently investigating his actions while manager of the club.
