Tractor Trailer Crashes on I-95, Traffic Backed Up For Miles

A tractor trailer ran through a guard rail on Interstate 95 in Harrison Thursday afternoon, leaving traffic at a near standstill.

A tractor trailer plowed through a guard rail and crashed into a wooded area along southbound Interstate 95 this afternoon, temporarily closing all three lanes in that direction and backing up traffic for miles.

The accident took place a few feet north of the West Street overpass in Harrison just before 12 p.m. The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed until 12:40 p.m., when two lanes were opened.

The vehicle went off the right shoulder and up a short hill, stopping a few feet into a wooded area near the highway. Authorities were working to remove the vehicle at 1 p.m., as it was partially blocking the right lane.
