Rye Schools Closed Friday; 17 Roads Closed; 3,900 Still Powerless

The City has been coordinating with Con Edison and the County Office of Emergency Management as well as with Federal, State, County and Local officials on power restoration.

- Con Edison is still in the public safety phase of post-storm recovery, focusing on critical safety needs: hospitals, nursing homes, pump stations, and closed roads. At this time, 20 roads in the City of Rye have been re-opened and 17 remain closed. Upon completion of public safety work, the focus will shift to restoration, with an emphasis on schools.
- There are currently 166,000 outages in Westchester, and 3,900 in the City of Rye (down from 4,513). 132 schools are without power countywide, including all Rye City District schools. Rye City schools will be closed on Friday, November 2, 2012. No date on Halloween has been determined yet.
