The Rye Brook Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Mount Vernon resident Elliot O. Asare as a village police officer last night.
Asare will earn an annual salary of $50,406 and his start date is still to be determined.
"I am proud to recommend Elliot O. Asare," said Police Chief Gregory J. Austin.
Asare is going through the final process of the background check, a mental and physical evaluation. Once that is complete, the information must be submitted to Westchester County, who will have to approve his appointment. Once he is approved by the county he will enter the Police Academy on Aug. 5. That lasts until December and then he has training so the Village hopes to have him start at the Rye Brook Department by March, Austin said.
