Question of the Day: When is it Safe for Kids to Venture into NYC?
New York is one of the country's safest cities—but, compared to the suburbs, local parents may still be wary of allowing their kids to tackle it alone.
o my surprise, according to a list printed in Forbes Magazine, New York was dubbed the country's safest big city—it ranked eighth among all metropolitan areas.
Criteria for the rankings include: crime rates, murder rates and traffic fatalities. And factors they listed that seem to affect these numbers were: average income and unemployment rate.
Many families move to Westchester for the suburbs' slower pace and quality public schools—while still being able to expose their children to the culture in nearby Manhattan.
