Novel Night Cancelled

A message from the Rye Free Reading Room.

To All Novel Night Guests and Supporters,

We regretfully announce that Novel Night, scheduled for Saturday, November 3, has been cancelled.  Due to widespread power outages and safety concerns, all dinner parties and the Apawamis after-party will not take place.

The City of Rye has advised us that proceeding with Novel Night is unsafe and inadvisable at this time. The Novel Night Committee is working with the Library’s Board of Trustees and the Auxiliary Board to consider all options.

Additional information will be communicated as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances.

Jennifer Leahy and Kelly Grayer, Novel Night Co-Chairs

A. Who the heck is "Sam Gentile"? Is "he" qualified to make the kind of postsRead More he's been making? Does he have an undisclosed financial interest in what he's posting? This sure looks like an [unidentified as such] sales promotion for Staples. B. On what basis does "he" assert that Rye Teachers are paying out of their own pockets for school expenses? I'm sure some are, but is it reasonable to base such a broadbrush / dramatic statement based on a nation-wide survey the source of which isn't even specified in the post? Was the survey perhaps assembled by Staples or some other business?
