Mayor: 2,950 Still Without Power in Rye, Escort Your Kids to School

An update from Rye City Mayor Douglas French.

Con Edison reports that there are currently 2,950 outages in the City of Rye. The estimated time for system-wide restoration is November 9th. However, Con Edison has begun issuing individual estimated restoration times. Please check www.coned.com for the status of your restoration.

Rye High School, Middle School, Midland School, and the Rye School of Leadership will be open on Monday, November 5th. Con Edison is working at Milton School. However, it does not appear that work will be completed in time for the school to open. Therefore, Milton School will be closed on Monday. Osborn School will also be closed on Monday. The Professional Development for faculty scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled, so that students can attend school on Tuesday.

The Superintendent of Schools has requested that parents escort their children to school. There are numerous downed power lines in the City. Please use caution traveling to and from school; always assume that any wire is live.

The City will continue to operate a Warming Center at the Administration Building of Rye Golf Club, 330 Boston Post Road, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

At this time, voting is expected to be held at your usual polling place on Tuesday.
