Blind Brook Schools Chief Thanks Community

Dear Members of the Blind Brook Community,

The Board and I were happy to see the community support the proposed 2013-14 school district budget by an overwhelming 83% approval of the vote. The budget passed 555- 113. Additionally, our Energy Performance Contract initiative passed by a similar margin of 534-94.

Our community recognizes the importance of supporting a strong, rigorous educational program, ripe with extracurricular opportunities. Whether you live or work here – there’s a level of pride that we all carry. Our district values quality schools; the vote not only reaffirms this, but also validates the school-community partnership, and a commitment to do the right thing for all children in concert with the taxpayers’ desire to operate with efficiency and fiscal prudence.

In this tax levy cap era we must continue to think creatively, maximize every dollar and ensure that children are the beneficiaries of this. This includes measures such as the EPC, which invests in our facilities today, but ultimately pays for itself and produces long-term energy savings.

Our district is one of distinction and despite some difficult decisions that needed to be made in order to reduce costs, the budget will allow us to continue our ascent. We are one of the best school districts in New York State and we plan to get better.

On behalf of the Board of Education I thank our community for their unwavering support and our faculty and staff for their ongoing dedication to the children of Blind Brook.

Sincerely,

William Stark
