BBHS Seniors Collect Donations for Staten Island

The Class of 2013 is eager to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Blind Brook High School class of 2013 officers have organized a drive to collect donations for victims of Hurricane Sandy on Staten Island, with the help of senior class supervisor teacher Charlene Decker.

“We set it up quickly so that we could get the boxes out in time for the election,” said class officer Jesse Bauer, whose father is from Staten Island.

Bauer’s fellow class officer Brielle Farruggio’s father is also from the same area in Staten Island, so the two are excited to be giving back to the areas from where their families came.

“We took my grandma to us before the storm and her area is ok, but the area by the water is extremely damaged,” said Farruggio.

Bauer, Farruggio, the three other class officers - Elise Szwajkowski, Jeffrey Maizes and Eric Handelman, and parents will drive the donations to a main distribution center set up at a Staten Island high school this weekend.
