SoulCycle to Open at Rye Ridge Shopping Center

The indoor cycling class that offers spiritual highs, dance-party music and 700-calorie blasting workouts has signed a lease at Rye Ridge shopping center.

Endorphin addicts will soon have a new indoor studio to get their highs in Rye Brook. SoulCycle, a trendy indoor cycling company recently acquired by Equinox, has signed a lease to fill the space formerly occupied by Ridge Squire Tuxedo. They plan to open in early 2013, according to the Rye Ridge Shopping Center website.

SoulCycle offers a variety of  high-energy, full body workout classes that cater to different fitness levels and also offers a teen cycling class.

The company was founded seven years ago by two fitness enthusiasts looking to create a studio that provides an energetic full-body workout in a fun, inspiring and spiritual atmosphere.  SoulCycle staff are carefully trained to promote a sense of community and dedication to health, fitness and fun.  High-energy music is blasted and members are encouraged to cycle to the beat by instructors who have to pass a rigorous audition process to earn their jobs.

“Again and again we were asked by our shoppers and tenants to add SoulCycle,” said Erin Hinchey, Leasing Representative for the Rye Ridge Shopping Center. “They are the best in this niche fitness concept, their clients are a perfect match for our customer base and they will add to the synergy of our shopping experience.”

The studio will be designed like the 15 other SoulCycles located in New York and Califorinia which feature a retail store, front desk and studio, said Luba Senatorova, the Director of Entitlements for Equinox who is handling SoulCycle’s Rye Brook application. Currently, the closest Soul studios are located in Scarsdale and Greenwich, Ct.

"We look forward to becoming part of Rye Brook community and provide its residents with state of the art health and fitness experience and lifestyle" Senatorova said.

The Rye Brook Village Board of Trustees approved the referral of SoulCycle’s application for approval of an amended site plan to the planning board last week, a standard procedure for new stores opening at the shopping center, Senatorova said. SoulCycle representatives will appear before the Rye Brook Planning Commission on Feb. 14. The Commission will then provide a report and recommendation on the proposal.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
