Rye Officials to Perform Home Inspections in October

A press release from the Town of Rye assessor Mitchell Markowitz.

The Town of Rye is continuing its multiyear property inspection program.  This year the town will be inspecting individual homes. This process is part on the Town’s constant effort to strengthen its annual property valuation process.

Data Collection in the Town of Rye will begin during the first week of October, 2012.  Data Collection will continue for approximately one month.

Over the next few weeks, data collectors from Vision Government Solutions will be inspecting homes in certain neighborhoods of Port Chester, Rye Brook and the Rye Neck School District.  Data collectors will collect specific information about a property, such as the type of building construction materials, the number of stories, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.  They will also measure the outside perimeter of the residence/building and any other structures on your property.  They will NOT be collecting any information on personal property, such as furniture, or appliances, will not be taking interior photographs and do not concern themselves with the tidiness of your home.

The inspection will typically take 15 to 20 minutes and you are encouraged to accompany the data collector during the inspection.

Data collectors will attempt to inspect your home during the day and early evening hours before dark.  If you are not available when the initial data collection attempts are made, a first-class letter will be sent to you requesting that you call Vision Government Solutions for an appointment.

Further information regarding the Town inspection process and maps outlining the areas where the data collectors will focus their efforts are located on the Town website @ http://townofryeny.com.
