Lovely Local Treats for Valentine’s Day

Local Rye businesses offer beautiful Valentine’s treats that look, smell and taste delicious.

If you are still scrambling to find a Valentine's Day treat for your loved one, head to Purchase Street.

We spoke with two business owners there to find out what they are offering for last minute Valentine’s Day shoppers. You can also find good gifts at many of the other stores along the street.

“Candles are good to set the atmosphere if you are dating, or if you are married, to spice it up a bit,” said Ana Sobalvarro, owner of Blush at 34 Purchase Street. Sobalvarro carries luxury Kat Burki candles, as well as several other popular brands.

She also has a full table of bath “ice cream” (salts and oils) by me!bath that make for a fun Valentine’s Day gift. Sobalvarro carries dozens of unique pieces of jewelry and fun items for kids as well. And ladies can sign up for a traditional Brazilian or Hollywood Bikini wax at a 20 percent discount in honor of the romantic holiday.

While Sobalvarro’s bath ice cream and candles smell and look good enough to eat, CandyRox Valentine’s Day offerings actually are good enough to eat.

If you want to find the way to your love’s heart through his or her stomach, head to Rye’s candy shop at 84 Purchase Street where you’ll find a wide variety of pink, red, and heart-shaped candy, and other whimsical Valentine’s Day goods.

The store will be offering fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries to be picked up on Feb. 14. You must place your order by calling them at 914-844-6750 by the end of the day on Monday. The store will be open until 7 p.m. Wednesday. Starting today, they will also have truffles available.

If you are not into the romance this year, have no shame in purchasing “the perfect man,” a buff chocolate boyfriend neatly displayed on the front table, or even a “grow a boyfriend kit,” an item the manager says has been popular this year. Or, at least just treat yourself to a bag of candy (as long as you chose colors other than red and pink.)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.

Don't feel so bad. The Patch doesn't even acknowledge that PC is a waterfront community. We've allRead More been shorted.
