How Much Do You Pay for Gas in Rye?

The days of $1.99 a gallon gas are over, so how much, on average, did Rye residents pay at the pump in 2009?

As gas prices have steadily risen, many consumers have sacrificed extra mileage to search for a gas station with the most competive price.

In this economy, more people are tightening their purse strings and while many gas stations are competitive at the pump, the differences can be vast depending on where you choose to fill up.

Westchestergov.com, the county's official website, has done the math for consumers in an effort to help them find the best prices.  On a bi-monthly basis, the Department of Consumer Protection surveys 400 gas stations throughout Westchester.

We decided to use this data to conduct our own assessment of 2009 gas prices in Rye. The PDF document to the right compares prices at eight gas stations in the Rye area. The price per gallon you'll see below the name of each station is the average 2009 price for regular unleaded gas. That figure is comprised of data the Department of Consumer Protection obtained from January to November 30, 2009 ( the county hasn't yet released figures for December 2009). We even included a range of four vehicles--from mid-size to sport utility--so that readers can see gas prices for vehicles that most closely resemble their own in  size and fuel tank capacity.

Though the data can tell you which gas station has the best prices, it can't tell you which has the best service.
