'Ghosts of Manhattan' Debuts at Rye Library in Time for Halloween

Meet a brand-new author and celebrate the publication of his debut novel Ghosts of Manhattan at the Rye Free Reading Room on Friday, October 5, at 7 p.m.

Thanks to the Rye library for submitting this information:

Rye resident and former Internet security company CEO Douglas Brunt has written a wryly comic, first-person story about life on Wall Street in the days before the 2008 banking crisis. Brunt will debut his latest novel Ghosts of Manhattan at the Rye Free Reading Room on Friday, Oct. 5.

By turns hilarious and harrowing, Ghosts of Manhattan takes readers into the seedy underbelly of the finance world and chronicles the rarified lifestyle of a charming but flawed character as he struggles to find the right path in a complicated urban heart of darkness.

Publishers Weekly says of the new book - “Brunt offers up a savage, jaded, and comical depiction of freewheeling Wall Street bond traders during their pre-collapse heyday in this engaging debut… As Nick’s life, his marriage, and the U.S. economy edge closer to meltdown, Brunt brings all the pieces together for a satisfying climax to this compulsively readable novel.”

The new author is married to FOX News Anchor Megyn Kelly.  They have two young children.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event and refreshments will be served.  For more information, call 914-231-3161 or visit www.ryelibrary.org.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
