Chocolate Shop to Open in Rye

Harrison resident Diane Holland is starting a sweet and savory business in Rye.

Diane Holland has been making chocolate for more than 20 years and this summer she will be bringing her sweet talents to Rye. Holland, a Harrison resident, is opening Blue Tulip, a chocolate shop on 222 Purchase St., the former Loco Latte location.

The store will have handmade chocolate treats and specialty drinks, and will also be used as a workshop location for chocolate making workshops. Holland has been running a chocolate camp for several years out of various locations and will use her new shop as the space for that this summer. Holland sought to build her first store in Rye.

“I love the area and this space I found I can do all the things I plan to do,” Holland said, adding that the landlord is very nice.

Holland is a graduate of the professional Pastry & Baking Arts Program at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC, Ecole Chocolat’s Master Chocolate Program training at the Barry Callebaut Chocolate Academy in Belgium and an English honors graduate of Marymount Manhattan College.

Holland has a small part time staff and plans to have a soft open during the summer and officially open after Labor Day, just before the weather chills and people start craving chocolate to warm them up.

There is free parking on Purchase Street in front of the store and on Highland Road on the side of the building. Check back with Patch for details on the official opening.
