Chamber of Commerce Reveals "Best of Rye" Winners

After an address from author Amy Cortese, the Chamber of Commerce released the names of its Best of Rye contest.

The room was full of local businesspeople and a few politicians. Outside the , a thunderstorm squalled over the Sound.

The annual luncheon is one of the Rye Chamber of Commerce's major events and not even the thunder clouds could dampen the enthusiasm of the group. This year's twist was the announcement of the winners of the 1st Best of Rye contest.

With 700 votes tallied, here are the winners:

The business group also honored Rye police officers Patrolman David Rivera and Lieutenant Robert Falk.

Rivera is going into his third year patrolling the business district and serving as liaison to the Chamber of Commerce. He will begin bicycle patrol in coming weeks.

Falk has worked on over 167 special events in the last 29 years; the last ten with Commissioner William Connors. Falk has taken a lead role on events such as Mistletoe Magic, the Turkey Trot, and school parades helping to prepare his colleagues for the crowded events and working directly with the public.
