Wildlife and Conservation Artist Speaks at the Rye Library

Alison Nicholls will talk about "Living and Sketching in Africa" next month.

From the Rye Free Reading Room: Wildlife and conservation artist Alison Nicholls talks about “Living and Sketching in Africa” at the Rye Free Reading Room on Saturday, October 20, at 11 a.m. and shares examples of drawings she’s done in the field.  She will also show the sketching kit she carries and talk about two conservation projects she has visited in Zimbabwe and Tanzania that work closely with local communities to preserve the wildlife of the region.  Some of her paintings illustrate why so many animals are endangered and show how research aids conservationists target efforts to help a particular species.  The presentation includes video clips and photographs showing the beauty of Africa and the diversity of its landscapes, people and wildlife.
