Rye Arts Center to Host Free Arts Day

RAC will be one of 21 different Westchester locations offering free art on Dec. 2

From ArtsWestchester:

Free Arts Day on Dec. 2 is a Westchester holiday season tradition. Each year in early December, arts lovers of all ages are welcomed at cultural sites throughout the county as arts organizations offer free admissions to their museums, arts centers and historical sites while hosting music and dance performances, storytelling performances, and workshops for every taste.

The Rye Arts Center is participating this year by offering several events on Dec. 2:

Docent Tour: From Where I Stand - Join Katharine Dufault, curator of this exhibit and an artist in her own right, for a fun and informative talk about abstract art and the exhibiting artists.

Using a variety of media – oil paint, mono-print, digital print, encaustic – 12 contemporary artists have created their own language of color, form and line. Their work, presented together in this exhibit, demonstrates compositions based on abstracted visual references to the real world. This is sure to be an exhibit that will both inspire and appeal to viewers. Visit ryeartscenter.org for start time and more information.

Sounds of the Season

Start your holiday season by attending this performance of music, literary readings and poetry in the Bertin Rowser Performing Arts Room. Students of the center’s music school will be joined by local community members, about 150 participants, to present a performance that will delight the ears and the intellect.
