Local Halloween Activities for Kids

Wear your costume, win prizes and make spooky crafts in the days leading up to Halloween.

Here is a list of local organizations holding Halloewen events from now until the big day next Wednesday. (Information provided by organization websites).

Halloween Stories and Crafts at Rye Library

Friday, Oct. 26, 3:30 p.m.

Halloween Stories and Crafts at the Rye Library. Friday, October 26, at 3:30 p.m., when children age five and up are invited to listen to Halloween tales and make a craft. For more information, call 914-231-3162 or visit www.ryelibrary.org.

Osborn School Halloween Carnival

Saturday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Osborn School invites the community to the annual Osborn Elementary School Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 from 10am – 3pm. Please join us at this special school event. All are welcome!  The Carnival will take place rain or shine on the school grounds in Rye, NY. There will be a flying witch ride, a cake walk, body art, jumping castles and much more! The Carnival will offer a variety of food and beverages so come for lunch while you are between activities. Our annual Silent Auction will also be held featuring one-of-a-kind exclusive gifts such as gift certificates to restaurants and spa treatments, arts and crafts items, event tickets, and exciting trips. The Silent Auction will have a staggered close between 3:15-3:45. This fun-filled Carnival is the school’s primary fundraiser. This year, our fundraising efforts will be used to build a new school playground and to supplement areas where there have been budget cuts, such as technology, curriculum enrichment, cultural arts and the library/media cente

Rye Ridge Shopping Center Annual Halloween Painting

Sunday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m.

There will be kids Halloween window painting at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center on Sunday rain or shine. For grades k-6 only. First come, first serve, registration upper level between Rye Ridge Deli and Sportech.

Port Chester Halloween in the Park

Monday, Oct. 29, parade starts at 5:30 p.m.

A parade of costumed children led by the Port Chetser Middle School band will take place at Lyon Park at Putnam Ave. and King Street on Monday. (Line-up begins at the  Girls Scout House). There will be a costume contest in which kids can win prizes. Example categories are

Scariest, Funniest, Cutest, Most Original. There will also be free tattoo applications after the parade.

Rye Library Halloween Program

Tuesday Oct. 30, 6 p.m.

Kids, join the library witches and wear your Halloween costume, make a trick-or-treat bag, and parade through the Rye Free Reading Room collecting candy. This special Halloween program for children age 4 and up will take place on Tuesday, October 30, at 6 p.m. For more information, call 914-231-3162 or visit www.ryelibrary.org.
