On his way to play live on the top-rated NBC television show “America’s Got Talent” last night in New York, rock singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw expressed nostalgia about being back in his home state. "It's always good to go back to where you came from,” said DeGraw.
The feeling won’t be short-lived because DeGraw will also be performing soon at this Monday, July 23 to perform with Outasight and NBC “The Voice” star Javier Colon.
DeGraw's appearance at Rye Playland is part of the park's Summer Concert Series. On July 18, Dominican dance music artists Bachata Heightz will perform and a fireworks show follows each of the events. For more information about tickets visit this link.
Recently DeGraw, who debuted in 2003 with an album called Chariot, has been on tour with two-time Grammy winning singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat promoting his current project and third album “Sweeter.” They performed together at Provident Bank Park in Pomona — check out photos from the concert by clicking here.
“I think it’s the most diverse record I’ve made and I feel like this particular album is hitting my stride and its something I’m very proud of,” said DeGraw.
The tour idea originated when DeGraw went over to Caillat’s home in California. As they played on the piano together, DeGraw jokingly said “Hey Colbie, what do you think about going out this summer and be my fake on-tour girlfriend this summer? She said, 'hey, not a chance but let’s do it anyway',” said DeGraw. “It’s been great working with Colbie, we’ve known each other for a while now and we’re good friends.”
After taking a small vacation, DeGraw will be joining Caillat again for the second half of the tour. Here’s a hidden secret, DeGraw likes to bring his own bedding on tour with him! “[It's] the best way to make you feel like you’re still home,” laughed DeGraw.
