"The Price of Freedom"

On Sunday November 21st at 4PM at the Crawford Park Mansion, the Rye Town 350 Committee presents the final program in the acclaimed three-part "HisStory" series featuring local historian and re-enactor Douglas Carey, portraying Lt. Col. Nelson Bartram in "The Price of Freedom",  a one-act play set in the 1860s in the Town of Rye.

The show chronicles the difficult decisions and supreme sacrifices that so many made during this time of War between the States. Carey will be joined by several special guests in this storytelling show which will bring to life the inhumane institution of slavery and how many Rye residents reacted to the "radical" idea of abolition, the seminal platform issue of the newest political party of the late 1850 and 1860s, the Republicans.

The play begins at 4 PM on Sunday November 21st and admission is free although the committee is asking all attendees to bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to a local food pantry. Crawford Park Mansion is located in Ridge Street in Rye Brook and is handicap-accessible.
