Juilliard at Jay - "Concitato" musical trio of Violin, Violoncello, and Harpsichord

Showcasing Juilliard's newly established program of historical performance study, this will be Concitato’s second concert in the series at the Jay Heritage Center.  Back by popular demand, the afternoon will feature Joan Plana on violin, Ezra Seltzer on violoncello, and Jeffrey Grossman on harpsichord, along with Priscilla Smith performing on oboe.

Taking its name from the Italian concitare (“to incite or provoke”), Concitato electrifies listeners with insightful interpretations of rarely performed repertoire.  Concitato combines stellar young talents with the latest discoveries in musicological research and cutting-edge training.  After a stunning Chicago début in November 2008, Concitato performed concerts in Montreal, Cleveland, and New York.  In 2009, Concitato was named a finalist of the York International Early Music Competition.

The theme of this concert is: An American In Paris: 18th and 17th century Masterpieces of John Jay’s Time.
