Blind Brook Student to Perform in NYSSMA Conference

Sarah Ackerman will represent Blind Brook at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference.

From the Blind Brook school district: Blind Brook High School is proud to announce that Sarah Ackerman is representing Blind Brook at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Winter Conference on November 29th - December 2nd, in Rochester, NY. Sarah will participate in the All-State Women’s Chorus.

Students are selected based on the results from their Spring NYSSMA solo performance. Sarah qualified for All-State Chorus not only with a perfect score, but was recognized for her excellence by being placed in the highly coveted Women’s Chorus.

Sarah will spend two days rehearsing beginning Thursday evening, November 29th and will participate in the All-State Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Babcock on Saturday, December 1st at 7:30 p.m. The concert is held at Kodak Hall in the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, home of the Eastman School of Music.

This is not Sarah's first time on stage. She has been working as a professional actress since elementary school and has appeared on a number of television shows, including 30 Rock, Guiding Light and Celebrity Ghost stories.  She is currently featured in the national television campaign for Mike and Ike candy.   Sarah has performed at Westchester Broadway Theatre, Lincoln Center, White Plains Performing Arts Center and other venues.  The Blind Brook student is also a proud member of SAG, AFTRA and Actors' Equity.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
