The Great Escape: Asian Heritage Festival at Kensico Dam this Saturday

Step into the Edo Period or one of China's feudal dynasties on Saturday at the Asian Heritage Festival.

We wouldn't want to encourage anyone to skip Port Chester Fest.

But the weather's getting nice, which means festivals are blooming almost as quickly as the flowers. For Japanophiles, martial arts afficionados and festival-hoppers who can take in two celebrations in one day, it's worth a stop by the Asian Heritage Festival at Kensico Dam.

The festival includes Japanese period-wear like authentic kimonos, martial arts demonstrations, native dance and music, and a whole lot of great Asian food from Westchester's most esteemed Asian-style chefs. There are also arts and crafts, and a day-long lineup of entertainment.

Find out what's happening in Ryewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Admission is free, and the festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. For more information call the Westchester County Parks Department at 914-328-1542.
