Residents Told Power Will Be Restored Thursday

Temporary police and ConEd trailers are set up on Purchase Street for a 2nd day.

Anne Barton stopped by the Rye Police Sub-station on Purchase Street around 9 a.m. this morning to report that power was still out at her Oakland Beach Avenue homes and at 5 of her neighbors' homes.

Though a release on the Con Edison website this morning, says the company has restored power to 80 percent of Westchester residents, some are still waiting in Rye and Rye Brook for service.

"They told me it would be Thursday," said Barton.

There is also a trailer from ConEd fielding questions and giving estimates on when power might be restored.

Behind City Hall another trailer serves as a command post for Con Ed workers being dispatched throughout the area.

Some residents who had power after the storm, then had their service cut off while emergency workers make overall repairs to the entire system.

Residents in Doral Greens and neighboring Blind Brook Golf Club lost electrical service Sunday evening after heavy winds knocked tree limbs into power lines, according to Village Administrator Chris Bradbury.

Anderson Hill Road was re-opened Monday after downed branches caused road blocks from the Doral Greens subdivision to Purchase College.

ConEd's website says, customers report outages and service problems through the company's website www.conEd.com or by calling Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).
