Patch Picks: Best Neighborhood Bakeries to Grab Sunday Rolls

Six local bakeries to check out for fresh bagels, cakes, rolls and more.

Many folks have come to associate lazy weekend mornings with a freshly buttered roll.

So whether you're a self-proclaimed baked goods lover or simply just enjoy a nice croissant now and then with coffee,  here are a few nearby bakeries that will have you ready to indulge in the sweeter things in life: 

Port Chester

This haven for baked goods recently celebrated its centennial, so chances are that you still remember the aroma of those famously fresh bagels if you grew up in town. The bakery also sells to grocery stores, restaurants and delis in addition to its own storefront, so locals can get a taste even if they're miles away.

For years, residents have been lining up for rolls and bread at the bakery's storefront – or at nearby Park Deli, where customers can smell the baking bread from across the street.  Along with many varieties of fresh-baked bread, a birthday cake or dessert spread from Cassone's is the perfect compliment to any successful party.

Rye

Selling pastries, breads, sandwiches and salads, this Euro-designed shop is a bakery and more. Open every day except Sunday, patrons are invited pair some freshly baked bread with their favorite meats and cheeses for a lunch or snack.

Harrison

For anyone with a sweet tooth, beware: homemade cupcakes, cookies and cakes are offered here at the corner of Halstead and Oakland Avenues. Open every day except Monday at 7 a.m.
