UPDATE: Bring Bruce Home: Kitty Gets Out After Storm

A Glen Oaks resident needs help finding his cat Bruce.

Pets are also stressed during and after storms. Glen Oaks resident Walter Peek is looking for one of his cats who escaped from the house near Coolidge Avenue and Wilson Drive during Hurricane Irene.

Bruce is one of two 10 year-old cats owned by the Peek family. He and sister Jackie are indoor cats that always return home when they've gotten out in the past. Bruce slipped out of the house through an open sliding door when the Peeks were running their generator and hasn't come back yet.

Please help the Peek family find Bruce. He is dark brown with green eyes and no collar. Maybe if you call by name and offer a little tuna, Bruce will come to you. Or maybe he'll return on his own, but for now he is missed by his humans and his kitty sister Jackie.

Update, 3:05 p.m.- If only Patch could take the credit. Walter Peek reports little Bruce is back home safe and sound.

Oh, the cat came back, it couldn't stay away. It was sitting on the porch, the very next day!

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
