The 38th annual Playland Day for People with Disabilities will take place at Playland on Friday, July 19th from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Nearly 7,000 people have been invited to the 38th annual Playland Day for People with Disabilities on Friday, July 19th. And this year, according to a release from Westchester County Executive Astorino, for the first time Westchester County’s Office for the Disabled and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation have partnered with the Tommie Cares Foundation, sponsor of the event which takes place from from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Playland Day for People with Disabilities is open to all Westchester County residents with a disability and members of their immediate families. Parents, friends, and volunteers are all welcome to join in the day of free rides, entertainment and activities.

“Playland Day gives people with disabilities an opportunity to enjoy all the great things Playland has to offer, and join in the fun with thousands of other families who share their same experiences,” explained County Executive Robert P. Astorino in a release.

New this year, the Tommie Cares Foundation will organize the adventure water sports activities at Rye Beach, where specially trained lifeguards and athletes will take a limited number of children with special needs kayaking, stand up paddling, outrigger canoeing, and more. The adventure water sports begin at 8:00am and children who wish to take part should register in advance online at tommiecares.org
