Meer of Friedland Realty Leases Times Square's Newest Flagship

Citizen Watch Company of North America opens global flagship in the heart of Times Square

Friedland Realty, Inc., the Manhattan satellite office of NAI Friedland Realty – a full-service commercial real estate firm serving metropolitan New York, Long Island and Connecticut for 45 years – announces that Friedland Realty, Inc. president Gene Meer has leased Citizen Watch Company’s first  global flagship store in North America. The 1,300-square-foot store will be located on one of the most prominent corners of the world’s busiest shopping destination, Times Square. Opening at 1500 Broadway N/E/C 43rd Street.

“The timing was perfect for the global watch giant to make its footprint in the bustling city center,” stated Meer. According to Travel and Leisure Magazine, approximately 330,000 people will pass through Times Square on a daily basis. Adjacent to the annual New Year's Eve ball drop and the newly-opened pedestrian mall, visibility of the Citizen brand will help to heighten the company’s international and domestic audience.   Citizen holds the leading spot in the United States for mid-priced watches – unique from its competitors, Citizen Watch Co. uses eco-friendly technology ‘Eco-Drive’ to convert light into stored energy to power a watch for approximately six-months.

The Real Estate Board of New York’s Spring Report estimates the average asking rental price per square foot for locations within Times Square are around $2,407. The store’s large corner windows allow maximum store frontage and boast high ceilings, making it a spectacular space to showcase the watch company’s full range of luxury watches.  The store’s current space was originally part of the lobby of 1500 Broadway.

“Times Square is the only seven-days-a-week, late-night shopping experience in Manhattan,” Meer said. “It was paramount for me to place my customer in the most highly pedestrian trafficked street in the world, giving instant visible presence.”
