Westchester Home Boys to Rock Annual Cat Show

White Plains, New York --- While the members of the non-profit Westchester Feline Club produce the Westchester Cat Show each year, their own cats are not necessarily the big draws at their event.  This year however, two of their very own will bring some impressive credentials with them and stand to be highlights at the show scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18 at the County Center in White Plains.

Finnegas, comes home to Westchester having recently been named “The 2012 Best International Somali” by The International Cat Association (T.I.C.A.).  Longtime members of the Westchester Feline Club, Marvie and Joe Russell of Mahopac, are the proud breeders of
Finnegas.

Lightning, claims a title which will never be owned by another Savannah.  This past August, Lightning became the very first of the Savannah breed to achieve Supreme Grand Champion status.  His proud owner is Janet Spain of
Cornwall, one of the newest members of the Westchester Feline Club.

Of course, the main focus of the Westchester Cat Show is the championship competition.  This year, Finnegas and Lightning will be joined by over 200 other purebred felines representing many of the 55 breeds recognized by T.I.C.A. who will be looking to snare the coveted rosette,
indicative of best in each category.

The Westchester Cat Show is not just fun, it is also educational.  See the big Savannah, Elvis, get Reikki treatments from guest lecturer, Carole Wilbourn,
noted Pet Therapist & Author.  If Reikki can soothe the beast, just imagine what it can do for your cat!  Also see members of Mindful Tails demonstrate TTouch on Elvis.  TTouch is the Tellington method of behavior training which is both gentle and effective.

A huge highlight each day will be the oh-so popular Meow Wear Custom Feline Fashion Show.  The fashion shows, replete with feline models dressed in haute couture, will be held, on stage, at 2pm each day.

And, of course, cats and kittens will
be looking to be adopted from local shelters, as well as for sale by breeders.  Other favorite features of the show include the Meow Marketplace where you can buy everything and anything for your cats and cat loving friends, Ask The Vet where you can get free medical advice, Shelter Cat Birthday Parties, where children get to sing happy birthday and give toys and special treats to
the shelter cats, and the popular Household Pet Competition (pre-registration required).

Cat of the Year is a unique feature and the pride of the Westchester Cat Show.  It honors a cat, not in the show, but one who has done something extraordinary or possesses some unique ability. Cats bring a special joy to all the humans they share a household with, but Nina brought much more than the usual joy.  She brought a gift from heaven.  Nina was rescued from sure euthanasia at NYC’s Animal Care and Control by Anjellicle
Cats Rescue.  After a failed first adoption, she was adopted again by a family of five which included two children
with pervasive developmental disorder, an Autism related condition.  Soon after Nina’s arrival, they found that Nina
would always find her way to the children’s side when they were going through emotional changes.  She allows them to rub her head and back which brings them a sense of peace and calm that neither their parents nor therapists have ever been able to do.  So come hear how Nina, not only got a new lease on life but found a mission to
fulfill in that life. And come see Nina receive her Westchester Cat Show Cat of the Year award, on stage, at 3pm on Saturday.

For 36 years, the Westchester Cat Show has been able to make generous donations to local animal welfare groups from show proceeds.  So come enjoy, and help continue the good work!  Hours are 10am to 5pm.  Tickets sold at the door: Adults $14, Seniors (64+) $12, Children (5-12) $6, 4 and under Free.  The County Center can be reached via the Westchester Bee Line Bus System and is within walking distance from Metro-North RR, White Plains Station.  For driving directions, call the Westchester County Center at (914) 995-4050. For all other
