Spring Luncheon Returns to Mark 20th Anniversary of History & Preservation in Rye

The Jay Heritage Center's (JHC) ever popular Spring Luncheon & Fashion Presentation by Neiman Marcus Westchester drew over 150 guests to American Yacht Club in Rye, NY on May 17th. Guests first enjoyed mimosas in picture perfect weather overlooking a harbor full of sailboats on Long Island Sound. Many women wore hats and spring suits while a new JHC Men's committee was in attendance as well. A high energy runway show of summer wardrobe must-haves from Issa to Missoni, from slipdresses to white dinner jackets followed amplified with music played by DJ Manek Mathur.

This year's event was one of several kicking off the 20th anniversary of the rescue of John Jay's boyhood home from demolition. A thank you party and private gathering of Jay Descendants was held earlier in the month. Thanks to these individuals, preservationists, environmentalists and founding members of the Jay Heritage Center, today the site is a National Historic Landmark and member of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area along with other Westchester jewels like Caramoor and Kykuit. A 20th Anniversary Black Tie Gala is planned for October 13, 2012 with special honorees to be announced.

Proceeds from these events benefit JHC's indoor and outdoor educational programs in American History, Architecture, Social Justice and Environmental Stewardship.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.

Don't feel so bad. The Patch doesn't even acknowledge that PC is a waterfront community. We've allRead More been shorted.
