Salvation Army Holds First Annual Breakfast Banquet

Join The Salvation Army Tarrytown Community Center on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 8 am to 9:30 am, for its 1ST Annual Breakfast Banquet in support of its youth programs.

Like Robert F. Kennedy, The believes that a society should be judged on how it treats its youth. That’s why we will be saluting three outstanding pillars of our community at this event who have dedicated their lives here in the Village of Tarrytown to “Doing the Most Good.”

Sunny McLean, Executive Director of Community Media on Hudson, is receiving The Salvation Army’s Lifetime Achievement Award, most notably for spotlighting and giving organizations like The Salvation Army a forum.

Westchester Community College Professor Donald H. Whitely stands up for the residents of the Tarrytown community every day by steadfastly supporting organizations that contribute to enhancing the quality of our neighbors’ lives. And for that reason he will be receiving The Salvation Army’s Community Service Award.

When it comes to corporate partnership, Bayer Healthcare has been one of our greatest partners. Bayer believes, as does The Salvation Army, that children should have access to afterschool programs that make a difference for them and that, during the holidays, there should be a gift for every child under the Christmas tree.

According to Lt. Alfonso Ciriaco, head of the Tarrytown Community Center, “None of what we do would be possible without the support of this community, especially our honorees and partners.”

The event is being held at by Hilton–Grand Ballroom Salon in Tarrytown. Tickets are available at $45 per person, and $450 for a table of ten. To reserve tickets, please email Corps Sgt. Major Janet Herrera at janet.herrera@ use.salvationarmy.org or call (914) 631-3871.

Checks should be made payable to The Salvation Army. $25 of each reservation is tax deductible. 100% of non-reservation contributions is tax deductible.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
