On Sunday, October 7, over 100 participants joined together to celebrate the Rye Y's LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. The program has helped over 100 cancer survivors reclaim their health and well being through physical activity.
The day featured a spin-a-thon, Locks of Love hair donation at Milano's and a celebration and dinner for cancer survivors and their families. Families had an opportunity to participate in a number of activities including creating bracelets and tie dyed shirts, Zumba, Pilates, swimming and strength training.
"It was a a very special day," said Laura Tiedge, Rye Y Senior Director of Healthy Living. "The day was not only a celebration for survivors, but also an acknowledgment of the important role that family and friends play in a survivor's recovery."
