Important Storm Cleanup Information for Rye Brook

From: Village of Rye Brook

Release: Important Storm Cleanup Information

In order to assist residents with cleanup efforts, the village is reminding residents of the following services:

Bulk Waste:

Bulk waste items should be placed at the curb for normal Wednesday pickup.  Please note that there is no bulk waste pickup the week of September 5-9 due to the Labor Day holiday.  Please remember that homeowners must arrange for removal of construction debris (sheet rock, wood, tiles, etc.) privately as it is not picked up by the village contractor.  Carpet should be cut in maximum three (3) foot length sections, rolled and taped.  Wet and dry cardboard should be placed out with the recycling collection, not with bulk waste.

Branches and Limbs/Green Waste:

Please make every effort to tie up any loose branches and limbs or place them in an open container for collection by the village’s contractor for normal Wednesday green waste pickup.   Please note that there is no green waste pickup the week of September 5-9 due to the Labor Day holiday.

Additional Assistance with Limbs, Branches and Small Logs (until September 12):

The village highway department will assist with picking up limbs or branches of a manageable size (i.e. handled by hand by one person) that cannot reasonably be tied up or placed in a container.  They will also pick up small logs (must be 6” or less in diameter and under 4 feet length).  These items must be placed at the curb no later than Monday September 12.  After this date, normal collection procedures apply.

In no event should bulk waste or green waste be placed in the street.  This creates unsafe conditions and can block storm drains.  All items must be off the street and neatly placed on the grass near the curb or at the edge of a driveway.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
