Sessions to include a series on self-improvement for women and a workshop for caregivers

The ElderServe Safe Center for Seniors in Yonkers has announced free self-improvement programs for women and sessions for caregivers through early December.

The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services funds many ElderServe Safe Center for Seniors programs, including ones for caregivers and its  Livable Communities activities.

A series on “Making the Connections for a Healthier Lifestyle” will take place Oct. 13 and Nov. 8 at the Hugh Doyle Senior Center, 94 Davis Ave., New Rochelle from 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. The events are presented by ElderServe, the Hugh Doyle Center, the YWCA Encore Plus Program and the Mid Central and South East Livable Community Connections (LCCs). An education and brunch series on “Conversations for Living Your Best Life” is set for Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4. All will be held at Our Place ElderServe, 347 Saw Mill River Road, Yonkers, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. The topic on Oct. 2 will be “Loving You:  How to Be in a Healthy Relationship with Yourself;” Nov. 6, “Five Languages of Love” and Dec. 4, “Reaping the Rewards.”

On Oct. 27, an educational seminar for caregivers will take place at the Esplanade Senior Residence, 95 S. Broadway, White Plains from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The seminar is a Mid Central LCC event, and will cover topics such as advance planning, document management, long-term care insurance, caregiver resources and veterans’ benefits.  To register, contact Crystal Johnson at (914) 368-5506.  For directions, call Doron Kathein at (914) 761-8100, Ext. 7151.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
