6th Annual Lemonade for Leukemia

Editor's Note: Thanks to the Patch user who submitted this news.  for detailed instructions on posting announcements on Patch.

When my niece, , was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2003 we were devastated. She bravely endured over 2 years of chemotherapy and is now 7 years cancer free! Our entire family and community has gotten involved with fundraising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, with the hopes that someday we will have a cure for Leukemia.

In August of 2007 we had our very first Lemonade for Leukemia. It was my son Cole's idea! My two kids and I sat in front of our house with a Pitcher of Lemonade and raised $200!

In August of 2008 we had our second Lemonade for Leukemia. We added a couple of raffles and some bags of popcorn to our Pitcher of Lemonade. We raised $800!!! We were floored!

In August of 2009 we had our third Lemonade for Leukemia. Even more raffles, a 50/50 and some baked goodies accompanied our even BIGGER Pitcher of Lemonade. We raised close to $2000!!!!!!!!!

In August of 2010 we had our fourth Lemonade for Leukemia and began selling tee shirts too! We raised $2,500!!!

In July of 2011 we had our fifth Lemonade for Leukemia and even won a spot on News12! Along with all the goodies and raffles, we sold hot dogs too (100 Hot Dogs donated by Wellshire Farms!!!) and raised $3,400!!!

PLEASE JOIN US THIS YEAR and HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $4,000!

Date: Saturday, AUGUST 18, 2012 (raindate Sunday, 8/19)
Time: 12-4pm (Raffle Drawings and 50/50 at 4pm)

Thank you so much, it means the world to me and my family!

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
