Feeling Stressed Out? Feeling Challenged & Annoyed or Stuck in Your Life!! by Amy Reissner Holistic RN

Great Stress-busting exercises. Release frustrating emotions! Regain feelings of peace and calm!

Many times in life, when there are transitions, emotional challenges, or circumstances not of your choosing, things can become 'STUCK'. You might feel totally STRESS OUT and on an emotional ROLLER COASTER.

Challenging events can be so troubling that it might cause you to feel completely enmeshed in the circumstance, or the emotions. Feeling distracted, having trouble focusing, engaging with your life, and with other people can often result. It is almost as if you are 'standing' still 'stuck' in the quagmire of feelings that might be from the past, or a current acute challenge.

In Oriental Medicine, this means that Triple Warmer (TW), the 'STRESS' meridian, is the 'Army General' of your energy system. TW has you captive and is being hyper vigilant in order to keep you safe and protected, but it tends to accentuate the feelings of anxiety and stress or OVERWHELM.

In our society this represents the 'FIGHT or FLIGHT' stress RESPONSE! Heart palpitations, increased respirations, inability to think, high blood pressure, and a desire to RUN result.

But there are ways to calm and soothe this response, which is caused by Triple Warmer! If you have episodes of these types of stress responses or if you are feeling particularly challenged at this time and who has not been there! Then read on!

Here are the some great Energy Exercises coming to the RESCUE! THey will allow you to release a variety of emotions, including Stress, Anxiety, Fatigue, Fear, Depression, Anger, Resentment or Overwhelm. You can name the feeling and these exercises can either return you to a state of calm or release the energetic charges of any emotion!

If this sounds familiar and you want to break out of this holding pattern, then try the following! I teach these to my clients and have taught some of these exercises to the 8th graders at Rye Middle School! AND THEY WORK!

For feelings of fear & anxiety:

Frontal-Occipital Hold-This simple technique works wonders!

  1. Rest the palm of your L) hand on your forehead.
  2. At the same time, rest the palm of your R) hand on the lower end of the occipital bone (bump) at the back of your head.
  3. Hold this position and deep breathe...in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this for a few minutes until you feel a sense of calm return to your being.

For feelings of panic:

  1. Do the same thing as above, but just adjust the placement of the palm on the back of your head by moving your hand up a few inches, to the upper aspect of the occipital bone (bump), at the back of the head.
  2. Don’t forget to deep breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth until you feel a sense of peace.

To Release Stuck Frustration or Anger (better than punching a pillow or door slamming!):

    1.  With a deep inhalation, make fists out of your hands.

    2.  Raise your hands above your head.

    3.  With a loud "Shhhhhhhh" as you exhale, bring your fisted hands down swiftly, opening them as they reach the ground.

    4. Bring to mind the event, person, with whom you feel frustrated or angry, and make the movements quick and forceful. Repeat 3x.

    5. For a 4th time, do the same thing slowly and feel the release of these negative emotions! Repeat Steps 1-3 as many times as you need to...and step 4 is the balancing step!

I guarentee that these exercises will help you! Let me know. You can contact me at amy@vitalessencehealing.com for more information on how to release stress!
